To me, the craziest idea was that anyone was really going to live there.

Share the Craziest far out ideas/arguments you have heard about life in the "NEW SYSTEM"
by BU2B inreally the whole thing is ludicrious but it is hilarious and sad at the same time to see grown people arguing about weather there will be cars, planes, eat meat, what about fish, etc in a place as imaginary as oz, yet to them it is reality.. the teaching of a paradise earth was so illogical it really was the first thing that started me on the path to waking up.
just the thought that someone could greet their beloved spouse who had died only to come to the realization that they could never be together again struck me as so cruel, i didnt want to live there even if it was all true.. i have heard jws say they think we might be able to fly, read minds since we will be able to use 100% and some seem to think life would be an endless vacation, with modern conveniences with no thought to all the processes and work that goes into something simple like a pencil.
i love the article jwfacts has on the flaws of any theory or teaching of paradise earth.. what are some things you have heard discussed/argued in car groups, gatherings etc when you were in?.

Solar Power Invention

WOW, what a load of baloney!
The device shown had a diameter of about 4 inches. For the sake of argument, let's pretend that that 4 inches are ALL solar cell. The area of a 4 inch circle is 12.5664 sq ins., which is 8.75% of one square foot.
The estimated maximum energy delivered to the surface of the earth by the sun is 600 watts per square meter. One square meter equals 10.764 square feet, so one square foot would receive 55.741 watts, and therefore this device would receive a maximum of 4.87 watts of energy per day. The best commercially available photovoltaic panels can achieve an effiiency of 21%. So under THE BEST conditions with THE BEST materials, this little window sticker could output 1.0227 watts per day.
Such a device would be nearly useless and is probably a scam aimed at the innumerate.

My Final Goodbye
by Lady Lee ini want to start by saying i will not participate in discussion here about my resignation as a moderator at jwn.. simon please consider this as my resignation from that position.. i have been posting on this board for almost 12 years.
i know some of you a lot, others a little and some not very well at all.
i have remained here for those of you who have needed support as you make the transition out of the wts, who needed someone to listen to your experiences of abuse at the hands of jehovah's witnesses, and to both laugh and cry with you as you progress out of the watchtower society.. we know that we have all experienced the cruelty of abuse of one kind or another.

So why do you keep talking about it, wha happened?

Steve2 brought up some interesting points which moved me to take another look at Lee's message. This is what I saw:
"...To those of you who have sat silently and watched and read over the last few weeks I hope you can look into your conscience and say you did the right thing..."
...I will not participate in discussion here about my resignation as a moderator at JWN...
...To [remain silent] would make us complicit in the abuse. Abusers want one thing from people and one thing only - our silence. To them our silence means they are right or they have scared you so much that you are afraid of them...
...When issues arise, rather than take a stand we can in effect say, “I’ll just sit this one out; others may be affected—even hurt—but I am not...
...I can no longer remain silent...
...Some of you have wondered about my silence regarding AAWA...
...I will not further address this issue here...
Lee seems confused.
Her silence is good, but she will not remain silent because that would be wrong, and there will be no more discussion of the issue.

I am NOT among the great crowd of wounded victims to whom Lady Lee has been such a comfort, so I feel no overwhelming debt of gratitude that I dare not ask, "Have you taken leave of your senses?"
ANYONE can be deceived, can't they?
I will wonder rhetorically what CEDARS offered you, what secret promises were made. What could he offer you that you did not already have, unless you were looking for a parasite who will use your skills to enhance HIMSELF.
I am confident that in time his parasitic deception and his failures will be clear to you.
When that happens, remember that you are always welcome here.

preaching work?
by Crazyguy inwe as jw's have always been told by the gb that the preaching work is paramount, they imply that if your not preaching that your not going to make it to the kingdom.
so what scriptures do they use for this idea?
the only one i can think of is the one in matt.

But wait!
The WTB&TS makes it clear that the scriptures are a love note from Jehovah to THE ANOINTED. They can't have it both ways.
The"preaching work" is REQUIRED of the anointed, not of the hoi-polloi. They can tell you it is a "blessing" for mere mortals to "share" in the work, but NONE of us are required to do so.
So take the weekend OFF! Tell 'em that MAYBE they'll see you next week... or not!
IT...IS...NOT...>>YOUR<<...PROBLEM!!!
I was in my mid-20s when this really sunk in, and I can recall the scene like a photograph today, some 40 years later. It was near the beginning of my fade, and the crack in my JW eggshell let a whole lot of light come in. In that moment I changed. I was off the hook and FREE.

Shouldn't truth-seekers of every nation and tongue desire to be WHITE like the GB?
..and don't trouble me with Sam Herd; he's lighter now than he was last year.

Napoleon is said to have declared that " A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon".
The WTB&TS has found that they can save the price of a ribbon.

Do Jehovah Witnesses accept 'audio' or 'video' as a 'second witness' in child sex abuse allegations?
by Sol Reform init's been reported that," horace mann (an independent college preparatory school in new york city) wouldn't consider a case for which the student had no "video or audio" evidence.".

Israelites didn't have audio or video technology, which of course Jehovah would have provided them had it been his will.
(Since the only scriptural reference to audio and video were occasions were Jehovah's loyal servants were put to the sword [Klystronians 14:5, Gallium 31:69-71] we take this as an indication of Jehovah's disapproval of such technologies. Let us not run ahead of Jehovah's paper-airplane-like organization though; Betamax may be resurrected in Paradise to be evaluated again for a millennium before being cast into the Lake Of Fire.)
What they did have were lambskin vellum scrolls and clay tablets impressed with cuneiform writing, which are still used in Judicial Hearings today.
Selah.
